Working as a single entity, Jakub and František share a foresight and synchronicity in their art practice.
Co-authorship has never been a motive for them, but a basic condition. It is the key to facing the challenges of the art industry with its own materialist specifics. It is the constitutive element of reciprocity and friendship that helps them maintain enthusiasm and motivation for lurking around art labour. Using different artistic languages, such as ink drawing wire crafting, or complex installations they make tiny connections between certain historical periods, which they describe as: “the universal industrial key drama, the transition from psychic woodiness to psychic metallicity”. That might be put into frame of so called long nineteenth century, as it was referred to by marxist historian Eric Hobsbawm. A key position of the work is, therefore, a tension between certain reconstruction of fictional genres and inner social history of material itself.

Jakub and František (1994, Czech Republic) are based in Prague and Vimperk. Both hold master’s degrees from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. They have exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at C. Rockefeller Center for the Contemporary Arts in Dresden (2020), Holešovická Šachta in Prague (2020), and Future Suburban Contemporary in Copenhagen (2022). Their work has been included in numerous group shows, including A.M. 180 in Prague (2019), Futura Prague (2020), Bistro 21 in Leipzig, Dálava space in Prague (2021), Divoká Šárka (is still alive) in Prague (2021), Terén in Brno (2022), Clueless Agency in Prague (2023), Acud gallery in Berlin (2024), Display in Prague (2024). Their work was also incorporated as an exhibition design at MeetFactory Prague (2023), Galerie Klatovy / Klenová (2023) and  AQB Budapest (2024).
